The power electronics, dark ambient, ritual, martial industrial and death industrial directions that emerged from the early 1980s represent a further development from industrial. This era, which began with the dissolution of the main industrial act Throbbing Gristle, is referred to as post-industrial . This designation is disputed, however, since it was not widely used outside of the industrial movement and the epoch it designates appears chronologically difficult to grasp.
